Hello, my name is Maggie Bauer, as a Certified Grief Recovery® specialist, Grief Educator® and equine expert. I facilitate outreach programs to help grieving people throughout the Twin Cities of Minnesota. I teach people how to take action to recover from a loss in their lives. Recovery means acquiring the skills we should have been taught as a child. These skills allow us to deal with our loss directly.
My journey beyond the pain of loss has been a life long one. I have had a significant amount of loss including influential people and loved pets along with moving several times over the last two decades. The most traumatic death was the death of my beloved big brother and only sibling when he died by suicide in August of 2012.
Despite the losses that have occurred in my life I have followed through on some incredible opportunities. Here are a few examples: I own a 32 acred farm with horses. I traveled to Australia to meet my pen pal when I was 15 years old. I have trained with two Olympians in the sport of equestrian eventing. I have a Bachelor degree in Science and Economics. Traveled on 5 continents, volunteered in Namibia, Africa and tapped birch trees for birch syrup in Alaska. For 3 years I researched wild horses at a national park in Medora, North Dakota and worked as a residential and equine specialist at a residential facility for troubled teens. My passion for horses kept me involved and engaged enough where I did not turn to other forms of comfort or short term emotional releasing behaviors to ease my pain. As a graduate of the Grief Recovery Method® and David Kessler Grief Educator® Certification training, I am dedicated to help others come to a place of peace and growth in their lives. My goal is to help people move beyond surviving a loss into thriving and participating fully in their lives.
